An Unforgettable FAM Trip to Marrakech: Luxury, Culture & Adventure

Marrakech is a destination that blends luxury, tradition, and adventure, making it an exceptional choice for incentive travel and corporate events. This December, we had the pleasure of hosting an exclusive FAM trip to explore the best of what this vibrant city and its surrounding landscapes have to offer. From opulent hotels and world-class dining to hot air ballooning over the desert and a luxurious stay in the Agafay Desert, here’s a recap of our unforgettable experience.

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech & A Magical Evening in the Medina

Leaving the UK’s winter behind, we arrived in sunny Marrakech, greeted by the warm hospitality of First Class Travel. Private transfers swiftly escorted us to the Sofitel Marrakech, a luxurious retreat just 6km from the airport. With its elegant reception, lush gardens, and tranquil fountains, the Sofitel set the perfect scene for the days ahead.

Our first evening immersed us in the city’s rich culture. A short transfer to the medina led us through its enchanting alleyways to Dar Zellij, a beautifully restored riad named one of the world’s best restaurants. Under citrus trees and handcrafted ceilings, we enjoyed an authentic Moroccan feast, with live musicians enhancing the ambience. The stunning rooftop, adorned with traditional Berber tents, offered breathtaking views over Marrakech.

Day 2: A Day of Adventure & Culture

Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Experience

The day began with an early hot air balloon ride over the Moroccan desert—an absolute trip highlight. After a traditional breakfast at the launch camp, we watched as the flames lit up the sky, inflating the balloons. Once airborne, we floated in perfect silence, witnessing the sun rise over the Atlas Mountains—a truly magical and serene experience.

Exploring the Medina & Jemaa el-Fna

Returning to the city, we delved into the vibrant souks of Marrakech, led by a professional guide. From fragrant spice stalls to handcrafted textiles, the markets offered an authentic glimpse into Moroccan craftsmanship. A stop for coffee in the medina gave us the chance to learn from a passionate souk owner, who uses hot sand to enhance the flavours of his coffee—a fascinating tradition.

Crossing the iconic Jemaa el-Fna square, we arrived at La Sultana Marrakech. This luxurious 5-star hotel is a sanctuary of tranquillity, offering 28 individually curated rooms and suites. After a site visit, we enjoyed lunch on their 2000sqm rooftop terrace, overlooking the city’s striking architecture.

Majorelle Garden & Evening Entertainment

Our next stop was the Majorelle Garden, a world-renowned botanical haven created by French painter Jacques Majorelle and later owned by Yves Saint Laurent. The vibrant Majorelle Blue contrasts beautifully with the exotic flora, making this a must-visit in Marrakech.

After a refreshing break at the Sofitel, we prepared for an exhilarating evening at Nouba. This immersive dining experience featured aerial acrobatics, live music, and dance performances, creating a dynamic and interactive atmosphere. The night ended on a high note as we danced the night away over a vibrant dancefloor.

Day 3: The Atlas Mountains & Desert Luxury

After checking out of the Sofitel, we embarked on a journey to the Atlas Mountains, making key stops along the way:

🌿 Visit to a Women’s Argan Oil Cooperative – A fascinating insight into the traditional production of Morocco’s liquid gold, complete with a warm welcome, tea, and fresh bread.

🌿 Atlas Luxury Garden – A serene luxury retreat with breathtaking views, offering elegant villas, a spa, and an outdoor pool. Our hosts welcomed us for a private BBQ lunch, allowing us to relax and enjoy the sunshine before continuing our journey.

The final leg of the day took us by jeep through the Atlas Mountains, culminating in an overnight stay at Le Bedouin Camp in the Agafay Desert. This exclusive camp offers:

🏕️ 120 luxury Khaima tents with modern comforts and private entrances
🔥 Fire-lit evening with pre-dinner drinks under the stars
🎶 Live entertainment, including fire dancers and traditional Moroccan music

The desert’s tranquillity and beauty provided the perfect contrast to the energy of Marrakech, offering a soulful retreat to disconnect and unwind.

Day 4: Final Day & Hotel Site Visits

Waking up to the sunrise over the Agafay Desert was simply breathtaking. After a leisurely breakfast, we returned to Marrakech for a series of luxury hotel site visits, exploring some of the city’s finest venues for conferences and incentive groups:

🏨 Radisson Blu Marrakech Carré Eden – A modern urban hotel with 193 contemporary rooms and meeting space for up to 350 delegates.

🏨 Kenzi Rose Garden – A grand venue with 384 rooms and conference space for up to 1,000 delegates, plus additional exhibition space.

For lunch, we were hosted at Al Baraka, one of Marrakech’s architectural treasures. Offering several elegant lounges, private dining spaces, and a rooftop with panoramic views of the Atlas Mountains, Koutoubia Mosque, and Jemaa el-Fna, it was the perfect way to conclude our trip.

Our final stop was the prestigious Four Seasons Resort Marrakech. Set within 40 acres of landscaped gardens, this luxury resort features 141 recently refurbished rooms and suites, alongside meeting space for up to 300 delegates. A farewell toast on the terrace marked the end of our incredible journey before we departed for the airport.
