Myanmar
Myanmar’s emergence from international isolation to a booming travel destination has opened up new and unique opportunities for the MICE sector. The transition from ‘off-limit’ to ‘must visit’ has resulted in the rapid growth of hotels and conference facilities – with state-of-the-art facilities to ensure every event delivers. Additionally, the upgraded Yangon International Airport is now connected to over 20 global cities and a new electronic visa system has improved ease of access. Away from meetings, delegates can enjoy abundant incentive activities, ranging from cruising the Irrawaddy River, exploring the lush Shan mountains, boating on Inle Lake, to exploration of the former colonial capital Yangon. Those seeking to host MICE events can take advantage of this political change, while simultaneously playing an important role in the country’s ongoing economic development.
